**CAVEAT: some credit card companies will run a credit check to see if you qualify for a limit increase, but you can ask if they will do that before you move forward. Also, this will affect your credit way less than trying to open a new credit card.

When your credit limit goes up while keeping your balance the same or lower, your credit score ultimately goes up too! Increasing your limit on your existing cards gives you some room to not have to be perfect with your credit card balances.

🗣️ Fun fact: credit card companies are one of the few financial institutions that are usually open 24/7, which means they're open on the weekends for you to make these types of calls.
